WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- 1/8 CUP OF HONEY (preferably raw)
- 2-3 TABLESPOONS OF SUGAR (white or brown)
- 5 DROPS OF VITAMIN E OIL
- STORAGE CONTAINER
- MIXING UTENSIL
This scrub is an easy and simple way to keep your lips lusciously smooth and non-flaky- which aids in flawless lipstick application. I typically apply this as soon as I get out of the shower- or even while I'm in it!- so the steam can open up my skin.
If you are having a hard time finding vitamin E oil, I typically find it in the all-natural section of the grocery store or I get this one from Trader Joe's off of Amazon. You can also use Coconut Oil- I prefer the Trader Joe's version of that as well :)
DISCLOSURE: The mixture recipe given makes more than the pictures show. The pictures show about 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar.
Put your sugar in your small fancy container and add the honey.
Next, and your Coconut or Vitamin E oil.
Blend until you have a thick mixture. You are looking for a gritty, sticky consistency. Test the sugar to honey ratio by rubbing your fingers together: If it more sticky than sugary, add more sugar. If it is extremely rough and gritty, and honey in small amounts.
TO APPLY:
Wet your lips with warm water. take a small amount of scrub and massage onto your lips in a circular pattern for about 1 minute per lip. For added benefits, let the scrub sit on your lips for a few minutes- the honey and oil are great natural moisturizers. Afterwards, wipe the scrub with a warm washcloth, following with some moisturizing lip balm to keep the treatment going.
That's all there is to it! Happy DIY Friday!

I'll have to try this. My lips are very dry in the winter.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to make this. Thanks for the "recipe". My lips could use a good exfoliant.
ReplyDeleteToo funny! I was just looking at my dry lips this morning! I'm so trying this...my lips are extremely dry in the winter. I usually resolve to a good scrubbing when I wash my face and Carmex. Stopping by from the Southern Bloggers FB thread.
